Holcim Argentina acquires 51% stake in Quitam SA

Holcim Argentina has acquired a 51 per cent stake in paints and liquid membranes producer Quitam SA. According to Holcim, the move is “aligned with the Holcim Group strategy focused on expanding its portfolio with products and services that provide comprehensive solutions for construction.” The deal includes a paint and coatings factory with an installed production capacity of 40m litres per year. Holcim Argentina’s CEO, Christian Dedeu, has warned that clinker production at its plants could come to a halt as he has no guarantee that there will be gas to fire the kilns this coming winter (June-August 2022). “We do not have guaranteed gas for the winter, which puts cement production at risk. Holcim Argentina has inaugurated a new line at its Malagueño plant in Cordoba, following an investment of around US$120m. The project included the construction of a new kiln line, a state-of-the-art vertical roller mill and a dispatch centre.
